I have to analyse camshaft for stress, torsion and bending. I have a lot of questions to ask and I will need to be guided very often because I am not very familiar with pro-mechanica.

My starting questions would be, that as the camshaft is rotating in an engine then can I simulate this in pro-mechanica that the cam is rotating while there is a fixed force on the cams ? How do I get the camshaft to rotate while pro-mechanica analyzes it. And will a static analysis be a good approximation if I consider that camshaft is rotating at constant RPM ?

I'll also need help in determining torsion in the shaft...

Thank You

You can follow these steps:

1. Run a dynamic analysis using Mechanisms.

2. Export the results to Mechanica for your stress analysis.

If you are interested in finding the Hertz stress and /or fatigue life, go for the staic analysis considering the maximum load.

Can you please explain step 1?
