Camera Shutter Cable Thread Spec 2

My d-slr uses a mini headphone jack for electronic remote shutter release, or an IR remote, so I can't directly check for you. If I were you, I'd take my camera down to ACE hardware (or similar) and gently try metric fasteners until I found the right one. A google search might turn up something too...

Others have been down this road:
According to that reference, it appears to be .156" dia, 50 tpi, 14 deg/side taper. I have also seen it called out as a KF 3.5 x .5 mm for a Russian camera on another "thread" (no pun intended), which is pretty much identical, but my guess is that it is actually an inch thread as the first reference indicates. If that is the case, then the thread form would be likely to be 55 degree British Whitworth, rather than 60 degree metric - you could settle it with a projector. One or two things on cameras still have British threads, since Britain was one of the leaders during the dawn of photography in the Victorian era. Tripod threads are 1/4" Whitworth to this day. If you are making a male thread, that should give you enough info to turn one on a lathe. But if you are looking for a tap, you might have quite a struggle to find one, as the guys on the above thread have already found.
