My daily practice to determine design moments, shear and axial forces is by simplifying frames into continuous beams fixed at farthest ends. Moments are not shared to upper and lower of interior columns, except for two fixed-end columns but only the lower columns carry this moment.
However, some structural analysis books tend to show that we shall use sub-frame to be able to determine moments acting at the top and bottom of a column (M1 and M2, the larger is magnified mM).
Kindly share your experience to enlighten this dilemma.
