Calculating Power required to drive a conveyor 1

Hi I'm looking for a calculation to work out the power required to move a conveyor. I have all sorts of information on the conveyor if anyone can help. The basics are its a Coal conveyor of 930 Metres long with 1.6M wide running at 3.14 m/min

Looking at putting a Motor, Gearbox & Inverter on it.
 
I did speak with a conveyor manufacturer .... He told me it would be 400kW

My rough calculation was not far adrift from this then.

Head to Tail Incline 5 M

The "simple" Effective Belt Tension (Te) from which the power is calculated is based on
Tension to move the belt Tb (N)
Tension to move the load Tm (N)
Tension to elevate the load Tl (N)
Thus Te = Tb+Tm+Tl
Power = Te (N) x Belt speed (m/s) / 1000 kW

How you calculate the belt tensions is down to the design guide you use. These could be the American CEMA guide referred to earlier, the UK's MHEA guide, the ISO guide ISO 5048:1989 etc, etc.
