How do I alculate the hydraulic cylinder bore size reqired for bending .75 X 6" A514 steel flat bar for a BAR BENDER? The inside bend radius is 12" and bend angle is 90 degrees. Tensile for bar is 120 to 130 KSI and yield of bar is minimum of 100 KSI. There are two cylinders. thank you

What pressure would you like to run your hydraulic system at?

Cheers

Greg, thanks
I think about 1800 psi. Is this a typical pressure for flat bar bender application?

That sounds OK to me.

So, work out the fully plastic moment for your section, then do a work calculation to estimate the required force. T.theta=F.x
