New to Caesar
I can't get my flange checks to work
Always showing allowable pressure as zero
1) does the software treat a flange pair differently than two adjacent flanges?
2) When I insert a flange pair, the pair element is not on the centre of the scoped node. It takes its entire length from the scoped element. Which seems weird to me. If each element represents a pipe segment, shouldn't one flange from a pair take from one element and the other flange from the other element? To rectify this, I have been entering single flanges on element ends instead of flange pairs. does this effect calculation?
3) When selecting a flange (say a 150# flange on a 12" pipe for example) then selecting NC-3658.3 flange check, only the bolt circle data is populated. And that data is wrong. B16.5 shows the bolt circle to be 431.8mm (12" 150#) but Caesar populates 442.976mm. What is going on?
4) the client spec calls for flanges that are ASTM A694 F65. However, this material is not the Caesar material list and is not on table 1A of B16.5. Other forums discuss this and say that A694 cant be used for flange checks. However, this material is common for flanges, ASTM A694 references B16.5 and our suppliers offer A694 flanges that comply with B16.5. My boss, client and flange supplier all say (and I believe them) that flange checks are possible with this A694. So how do I get Caesar to do it? Do I use some equivalent material? Seems weird that such a common flange material is not supported by the flange checks.
