Hello,
We manufacture most or our parts in house and are looking to get CAD and CAM to work together seamlessly; even at the possibility of eliminating 2d drawings.

Are many using the Y14.41 3D dimensioning specs? Have you gone away with 2D drawings completly?

Thanks,
Terry

No. We still need at least a minimum dimensioned drawing showing critical and major dimensions.

Although we can manufacture a lot of things to the model, we can not yet - easily - inspect to it.

We did not eliminate 2D but we did curtail the paper. All of our drawings are on the network as pdf's. We have pc's throughout the plant. If the operator needs to confirm a dimension for part off one of our machining centers, they can call the drawing up on the computer. So we do not have dated copies of drawings on the floor.
