C26000 brass, Heat treating and annealing data sheet?

Cannot find much information on this alloy and curious if anyone can share a resource for this material?

The only heat treat for this would be annealing, AFAIK. go to

and search on the alloy number, I got annealing temperatures of 800F min. and 1400F max., but no times listed. Hot working temp.'s 1350 - 1550 F.

This is the common 70Cu-30Zn cartridge brass and as btrueblood notes, can be softened by annealing but not hardened by heat treating. What are you hoping to accomplish? This will have some bearing on the annealing treatment.

We have to form the end of some parts which will cause work hardening of the material and we simply need to anneal the end back to preformed state.

My understand as well was that 26000 could not be heat treated, only work hardened.

Or get ahold of the ASM Materials handbook, Vol. 2, and look up the annealing info. for wrought copper and alloys. A good uni library should have this on their reference shelf.
