Currently we have a 6" waste gas line with an On/Off valve connected to it. When the valve opens up, the vacuum pump removes gas from the reactor too fast and the condenser can not handle this WG load. We are trying to install a smaller bypass line with an on/off valve around the 6" valve that restricts the flow of gas to the vacuum pump and ultimately the condenser. What is the correct method when sizing this smaller bypass line.

Adding a restriction in front of the pump might only damage the pump, so in that case size the bypass using the pump's minimum flowrate.
