Section VIII-1, UW-9(c)(1), UW-13(b)(3), Fig. UW-13.1(l), UW-33

Let's assume I wanted to weld a 1/4" thk shell section to a 1/2" thk shell section in a Category B joint and I want the centerline of the materials to line up (surface offset of 1/8" on each side).
If I provide the 3:1 taper required in UW-9(c)(1), am I still in violation of UW-33?

Does the answer change if the 1/2" shell section were replaced with a 1/2" formed head?

Let me know if I'm understanding this correctly...
I design the taper per UW-9(c), and then in the shop UW-33 tolerances apply to the alignment specified in the design.

It is obvious that UW-33 ALIGNMENT TOLERANCE is applies during manufacturing.
