BS standard Vs API standard query and comparison

Hi Guys,
I have a query.
- What is the BS standard (Latest edition) to be used for compliance for Chemical process centrifgual pumps and Positive displacememt pumps?
- Is the API standard for centrifugal and Positive displacement superior in terms of design and specifications? (Meaning, can an API pump be offered for the requirememt of a BS standard pumps with few possible deviations against the latter?)
