Dear Members,
I just signed in for this forum so I will introduce myself first and then go right to the point.
I am a double major in mechanical and electrical engineering from Guatemala who's professional experience has been in the sugar industry. Right now I started a new venture in the plastic industry in the largest company in Central America and the Caribbean. We process PE (HD, LD, LL), PP, PS, PC and PET, using blow molding, extrusion and injection.
My experience has been both in plant (process and maintenance) and in analysis. Right now I am interested in generating a model to analyze the plant's performance and to maybe change our indexes to more accurate and sophisticated ones that could better describe the situation.
I'd like to ask those of you who have been involved in projects like this to help me understand in a better and more deep way this interesting industry. First let me ask for any tip on common techniques to describe the plant's performance and indexes used (common and non common).
I hope this could be the start of a mutual cooperation and I do hope my experience and techniques from the sugar industry could be of some use in this new area.
Regards to all and hope to hear from you soon.
Regards,
Manuel A. Escamilla
