Hello
While designing a steel frame with a bracing and a horizontal load acting on the frame, how do I input the restraint for bracing in SPACE GASS. Even if the has hinge connection, will it be FFFFFF, since it can't rotate in any directions?
I have never used SpaceGass, and further I don't know whether your FFFFFF terminology stands for 6[ ]x[ ]Fixed or 6[ ]x[ ]Free.[ ] However as a general rule in a three-dimensional frame analysis all six of the member end translational fixities for a "bracing member" would all be fixed (three translational degrees of freedom at each end), and five of the six member end rotational degrees of freedom would be free.[ ] The single rotational degree of freedom that needs to be fixed is one (and only one) of the two DOF's that represent rotation about the member's longitudinal axis.
