as per ACI318 the special boundary elements are required if the max. Extreme fiber stress exceeds 0.2fc in the special structural walls in case of SDC D or more ,my question is if my building in SDC LESS than D and i used ordinary shear wall,should i use boundary elements as well if the extreme fiber stress more than 0.2fc or only this condition for special wall ?
