Boulder Model 2

I am trying to design the backyard of my new house and bought some software called Punch Master Landscape. I have at least average skill level in Acad, ProE and SW and can not figure out how to use Punch. Maybe I'm an idiot.

I decided to just use SW knowing that there will be some limitations.

What I'm after are some models of rocks/boulders which would be suitable for building a swimming pool waterfall.

Anyone know where I can get some?

just do a revolve of a shape that you might see jutting out of the ground and start deforming it. Then when you have it somewhat presentable, put a texture or color on it. I don't know of any boulder models on line...if search worked in this fora right now you could search for a vast array of places to find stuff already modeled. Maybe some of our patron saints of ENG_TIPS would be kind enough to repeat them (he said, respectfully). ;-)

It seems to me that you will find, since you will be using Solidworks for your landscaping application, that it will behoove you to go ahead and model the stuff yourself. It's fun to experiment with new stuff like boulders and trees. (Oh well...there must be a tree or a bush.sldprt available)
Sounds like fun. I am in the midst of designing critter cages for the wifes pet gecko's and Euromastics...lizards of all sorts. I am using stock lumber mostly and texturing all of it in pine. Hope your project turns out great.

You can model a box then use the deform tool. Play around with it, the rock will appear.

Thanks for the tips guys.

I did think about the revolve function but I thought the boulders would not look so good even with texture applied. I have never used the deform tool before. I will give it a try.

I sure will be glad when the search function is back running as it used to.

Have you tried the Google search at the top of this page?
Make sure the Eng-Tips Forums option is selected.

You can also create splines and use a loft to make a surface. Deform each spline to get the shape you need. One part can be saved under other names and you can use your base model to morph into all sorts of shapes.

I did try the deform ttol but couldn't get it to work on a revolved part.

CBL - Yes I did try the search function but didn't see anything. Did I miss something you know about?
