Hi Guys,

I have an assembly BOM table that lists the parts as Items 1,2,3 etc...using rpt.index

Now I want to refer to the item numbers in the notes i.e.: ASSEMBLE ITEM 3 TO ITEM 4.... etc

Is there a way to reference the BOMs Item number (rpt.index) into notes, so they will update automatically rather than manually changing the notes.

Thanks

J

You generaly can't reference repeat region parameters like &rpt.index, &rpt.qty... (but you can access model parameters) outside a table.

Why not access the part name or part number instead?

If I came accross something, I will post.

This sounds like a job for Pro/Process.

I haven't worked with it since my 2001 days but I believe it could do what you want (or something similar).

I'll see what info I can dig up...

We were looking at taking the BOM repeat region index to our PDMLink system as an attribute and were told by PTC that the index is NOT available outside of the repeat region.

If there is a work around, please post it so everyone can take advantage of the information.

"Wildfires are dangerous, hard to control, and economically catastrophic."
"Fixed in the next release" should replace "Product First" as the PTC slogan.

The problem I can see with it is that the rpt.index parameter is specific to the assembly in question.

A component used in multiple assemblies could potentially have two index values, which could cause havoc!

There may be a solution... a couple of releases from now [wink]

Actually, PTC's acquisition of Arbortext might be a step in this direction, as what you are asking to do is very similar to what Arbortext's software is made to do.
