When creating balloons on a drawing I have a need for stacking balloons (see EXAMPLE "B") rather than having balloons each pointing to individual parts (see EXAMPLE "A"), while still being parametric to the BOM.
Is this possible? If so, how?

i got the way to get the ballons the way you wanted; but it has got some limitations.

1. quantity will be attached to ballons.

2. the stack can only be placed horizontaly

following are the steps i did:

1. change the BOM baloons menu, change type to "with qty'

2. then selct "merge" and click on the baloons you want to stack.

Once you have merged the ballons you can drag them so that they are stacked vertically.

i tried dragging but it was not working for me. then i refered Pro/E Help Center. there it was mentioned: "Use the Merge command to stack quantity balloons with different index numbers. If the index numbers are different, the balloons are adjoined horizontally."

so i left it there it self.

thanks kdem for the info

Hi sanjeev,

I tried to drag the BOM balloons in both WF 2.0 and WF 4.0. In both the cases I was successfull. Infact, you can position the merged balloon at any angular position you wish. Also, the balloon gets snapped at every 90 degree rotation.

I am attaching the snapshots for your reference.

Thanks anand. But i think Herb's problem is still not solved. the qty is still showing

I haven't tried it but someone answered his post in the PTC forum and said you can also stack custom ballons which don't have to have a quantity.

I'm a couple years late to this thread, but if you want to stack custom balloons (eg, three balloons labeled 8, 4 and 1), enter the balloon text as 8 <Return> 4 <Return> 1 and you will get three linked balloons with a single leader. I haven't tried dragging position, I'll give that a try later today.
