Hi everyone,

It would be strongly appreciated if someone can help me. Maybe it's a piece of cake but i'm struggling.

-How or where can i find table regarding the strength grades related to the dimension bolts(M10...M).On line maybe?
-What percentage of the applied torque on a bolt(measured with a torque wrench) goes to friction.
-I'm trying to calculate the following.
There is a small pipe threaded at both ends.At the one end is installed a manometer. At the other there is a bolt. The pipe is filled with oil .As the bolt is bolting the pressure of the oil should be increased. How can i relate the torque applied on the bolt with the pressure indication of the manonmeter at the other end?

Thanks in advance.

To answer the first question, try this site:

For the second question, it is 80-90% (~ 50% at the bearing surface, ~ 40% along the thread surfaces).

For the third question, I would think you should relate the pressure to the internal volume. As you rotate the fastener one revolution (2*pi radians, 360 degrees), you advance the fastener one pitch length. Use this to calculate a volume change, and hence a pressure change. Thus, you remove any friction dependence.

For the bolt grades and dimensions, try .

Tip: I found out you can kill pop-ups and other annoyances, and speed up your browser on quite a few sites, by turning off javascript (called "Scripting" in IE) in your browser options or preferences. Also, browsing with images turned off, and loading them only on the pages you desire, speeds things up, too.
