Hello there!

My model is basicly two square plates connected with bolt. I apply bolt preload and i want to see how plates will react. But i can't analyse model until i have some constraints wich i applied on sides of plates (fixed), my question: is it possible to analyse (static analysis) model without constraints? Or what will be the best constraint?

Grozozo.

Use of actual case conditions will better to get the meaningful results in the analysis. E.g. if plates are long you can consider the plates fixed and assume the bolt will have local effects. Or you can apply symmetry constraints.

Basically, Actual end condition of plate will decides the constraint to be used. (Pinned, fixed, simple supported etc.) You need to apply minimum constraints to attain equilibrium.
