Firstly, I'm new to SE but have settled to it well.

I am trying to use the blue surf option to create 'sheets' for blocks to wrap onto.

I have looked at the single tutorial covering this subject but it is really bad, along with many of the others by only giving a guide to the specific situation.

Each time I create the surface. Then two sketch lines 90 degrees to each, then join them with blue dot. When I chose the lines to join under blue surf, I recieve an error. Sometings it is that the part are too small or over lap. Other times it is that there is an unepected error, no solution.

What have I missed out while creating the Blue surf?

Have you tried 'Copy Surface' or 'Offset Surface' command?

Not sure what you mean by copy surface.

Offset surface wont work untill the blue surf has created the sheet.

I did forget to mention that I am using SE-17, though this shouldn't make a difference.

Click Surfacing > Copied Surface, you'll see Offset Surface and Copy Surface.

The blocks you mentioned, are they solid? If they are, you can then create a surface from a face of the block, using 'Copy Surface' or 'Offset Surface' command.

Yeah the blobks are solid. I just need the one face to be shaped.

Would it be a problem that the block has no thickness aroun the edge i want the blue surf to take? eg more like a bulge out of the side of something rather than a shape in it's own right.

My fault, I wasn't using the tool correctly.

Ikept selecting sketchs in the cross section step rather than moving into the curve gudie step.

Have now started to use it properly
