I am looking for applicable codes/standards used for the design of bulk bitumen storage tanks/vessels/pipework?

I have acquired the Shell Bitumen Handbook and the IP Bitumen Handling Safety Code (part 11). But neither reference ASME codes or the like for the design of tankage or piping.

I have reviewed the API standard for bulk storage tanks which reference tanks storing product over 180oC as outside the scope of the standard.

I would suggest API 650 for the storage tank design. The basic standard includes tanks operating up to 200 °F, but with incorporation of the additional requirements of Appendix M, the upper limit on temperature can be up to 500 °F. Piping would likely be designed to ANSI/ASME B31.3 requirements.
