BioMedical Engineering

I am currently a biology and computer science major but was thinking about switching to biomedical engineering. I was wondering what people are doing with a degree in BME today? How strong the market for it is? and if switching is a good idea. My goal has always been medical school but i am really interested in BME.

If you do a BSBME and do it well, it will surly grant you entrance to med school. Much tougher than biology though.

If you are in the US MIT has a degree called Biological Engineering.

The idea behind it is that the systems you are manipulating are biological systems.

BME is a branch of Mechanical Engineering (well back in my college it is). If you are going to design anything for the body, it would be Mech Engr related such as Fluids (blood), Structural (bones), Materials (what materials the body can tolerate), and so on. However, there is a fair amount of electronics too. But, I would guess most is Mech Engr related.
