Planning on using a SS spring in an aluminum valve assembly where the two metals will be in contact. The aluminum (likely 6061 or 7075) will be anodized. The spring would be 302 SS, or preferably 316 SS. The application will see oil or coolant, no water. Should we be considering a barrier? Is there a better spring material for the application that would prevent the need for a barrier?

Stainless on aluminum - the aluminum will corrode first, and slowly, since the spring is likely much smaller in area.

" oil or coolant, no water" - your coolant has no water in it? Sure about that?
