What is the present supplier of choice, PlC or Bus. Programming to be in C++ or Ladder logic. Quadrature encoder capable, on board 120/240 VAC - 50/60 Hz, dual high speed counters, relay or solid state, small to medium capacity.

I believe that Automation Direct has the best pricing on general purpose commerically available programmable logic controllers.

USA- Rockwell Automation - controlnet
Europe-Siemens Step7 - profibus
Europe/USA-Scheitder electric = telemeq/modicon - modbus

region above is where they started i believe

most widely available suppliers of plc and busses

most provide programming in 3 languages.
ladder, sequential function chart, some form of basic or c programming
