I am trying to figure out if an unequal angle steel profile (200x100) can be replaced by a bent plate of equal dimensions.

I can calculate second moment of area for the shape easily and check, but production wise I have no idea how a bent plate will behave compared to profile (I assume hot or cold drawing). Will there be any leftover tension from bending. If so the profile would be more keen to open up when loaded than a profile.

Any help would be kindly appreciated.

Cold formed sections are generally stronger that hot rolled. Cold Formed Steel Design by Wei Wen Yu is a good reference.

According to the material I found using bent plates in stead of cold/hot formed profiles is possible in axial load but not in transversal load situations.
The inherent internal stress from bending is acting in the same way as the transversal force bending stresses therby providing less resistance.
