I am designing a plate that is fixed at both sides, the bottom, and free on the top.
I took this equation out of Rorkes Formulas for Stress and Strain--- sigma= -Beta*q*b^2/t^2--- where beta is dependent on the length of the plate divided by the heighth.
I found that the sigma max (flexural stress) was 113.5 psi. Is this the maximum stress that can occur on the plate? And is this per unit length of the wall or per area of the wall?
