Beam / wall intersection

In Etabs, when I draw beam and intersect at wall, should we intersect the beam at the edge of the wall or at the centerpoint of the wall ? Which is the correct way?

in finite element, ideally should be connecting nodes. If relying on automesh than the wall centreline.

So, which is the correct way? Should I join the beams to the wall edge or wall centreline?

if the beam is transferring shear load to the wall, than wall centreline is the more conventional method to transferring to a wall. If you take the beam to the wall edge and automesh, then it will transfer the beam shear force to the wall thru the slab element (or whatever element you have between the end of the beam and the centreline of the wall.

I'll say it this way, if you're not sure, then you should always use centerline modeling. Technically, there are ways to use something other than centerline modeling, but that introduces more complexity to the model than you would think and you really have to know what you're doing if you're going to do it correctly.
