We are considering an upgrade to Cosmos Advanced Professional (from Designer, which comes with solidworks premium). The deciding factor will likely be the 'beam' geometry type analysis (referenced on the capabilities chart). Currently we recreate our large frames in ansys using line elements (so the problems are small enough to solve, say <~1 MDOF). Can you convert the '3d sketches' / associated cross sections into "Beam Elements" using cosmos advanced professional, or is the chart just refering to some beam analysis tools in general. Thanks.

Also, how well does the translation tool work with ANSYS?

From the VAR, the answer is no...this is just a standalone version of cosmosM, which would be no different than ansys or any other add in fea package (i.e., no way to import 3d sketches into an FEA package)
