Just put up an interactive map for Basic ASCE and IRC wind speeds:

If your designing a residential structure then the IRC 2012 value is the appropriate Basic Wind Speed to use, otherwise the ASCE ultimate wind speeds should be used.

Thanks for pointing this out. I just tested it myself in Firefox and it never returns the value from the USGS or the wind speed as you suggest. However, it works just fine in both Internet Explorer and Chrome. I will look into this further, I'm thinking it has something to do with the way Firefox is handling asynchronous javascript queries.

I am guessing that a lot of people still using Windows XP will stop using Internet Explorer soon since the IE version that works with XP will no longer get any security updates just like XP. Since most malware comes in through email or your browser, switching to Chrome or Firefox would make the most sense for people stuck with using XP like me.

I think I've got it fixed for Firefox now. One of my javascript functions was throwing an error in Firefox, simple configure change. Give it another try and let me know what you get. It's always fun trying to make a script cross browser compliant. You would think this sort of thing would not be such a problem given how long the html and javascript standards have been around for.
