Hi, im pretty new to abaqus and on a strict deadline so help would be appreciated. I am modelling laser that is heating up the middle of a plate. I have modelled it as axisymmetric so the top left corner has a very small surface load on the top. the temperature field does not change at all far away from the source. So I have biased the mesh by increasing the number of elements on that corner. My question is which element type under heat transfer would be most appropriate as they give quite varying peak temperatures. I have fiddled around with quad vs quad dominated etc etc anyone have any recommendations?

If you need good accuracy, go for a quad mesh (possibly second-order elements). Experiment with various mesh densities to see which one is sufficient for your analysis.
