Hi All,
I'm just wondering what people do and what general practice is for basement design.
What I have is a one storey car park basement level with 3.5m of hydrostatic pressure (on slab and walls). I believe the structure will be tanked on the exterior (non-structural) and I was wondering is this sufficient or is there additional requirements to control crack widths in the structure (as kind of a contingency)... what is industry norm for this kind of thing? I'm from Europe so is there any guidance publications that may be useful to me? I found TCC Concrete Basements publication.
Also, my slab is pretty irregular (no common grids) so checking cracking at major locations will be long and gruesome. Is there a simplified way to do this or am I over-complicating the issue?
