I am trying to understand the calculations for base ring in Pressure Vessel Design Manual by D. R. Moss (Ed. 4).
in chapter 10 procedure 10-5 the base ring is checked so that there will be no failure during lifting of the equipment. But the calculations basis cannot be understood at all. Is there any reference that I can see to understand the basis for these calculations. For example what is the origin of coefficients listed in table 10-7?
