Hoping to find some help on how to size a motor for a backyard rope tow. I would like to design a system that can either run on a small gas engine or an electric motor. Any pointers on where to start are much appreciated.

Many Thanks!

Could you provide more details on the application?

Check out this website -- and search for "backyard" or "ropetow" and there is excellent information on making your own ski lift.

I built a ski lift on a pretty steep hill using wire rope --its about 1000' long and runs on a 10HP lawn tractor engine -- the details are on the website listed -- send me a message if you have any questions and I'll be more than happy to help out. chris.

BellHollowSkiBowl,
Thanks for your response. I visited the site you listed and could not find what you were referring to. If you could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.

VT is getting dumped on!

Thanks
