Hi,

Pretty sure I already know the answer to this question but asking it cannot do any harm anyway.

We are to manufacture a small pipe spool and it is to be done in accordance with ASME B31.3. Here's my problem, I've dug said standard out of our archives and found it is the 1996 version. Is this suitable to use or do I need to by the most recent version sharpish?

Thanks in advance.

The key change that will affect you most is the change in the hoop stress / wall thickness equation; some of the Sa values in Table A.1 are revised too, I think.

You are probably OK at pipe temperatures below 500 F if you use the old Code as a basis. But the right answer is to get a copy of the latest Code.

The 2012 edt will be effective from the 10th of July 2013. Based on your contract award date, pick if you need 2012 (prolly not), or the 2010 edt.
