B31.1 A269 question

Im reviewing a B31.1 piping system (pressure fuel piping on a ship). They want to use ASTM A269 stainless. Which is not in table 126.1 of B31.1.

What I have found is that it has limited mechanical testing and that is is for general purpose use.

Is there a definition for "General Purpose Use" does that restrict it from being used on the high pressure side of piping systems?

A269 does not require mechanical testing, therefor it is not suitable for Code use.
Use A249, though virtually all of it is dual certified.
General purpose is obviously not pressure piping in this case. Read the scope on the specs.

A269 is allowed under B31.3. Just out of curiosity, what is the motivation to put this pressure fuel piping on a ship under B31.1?

A269 not listed anywhere in B31.1 is considered as "unlisted material". Unlisted materials (123.1.2)are allowed by B31.1 to be used subject to certain conditions.
A269 is listed in B31.3, it's a ASTM specification, has SMYS, UTS, allowable stress values within the temperature limits (see Table A-1 B31.3)and therefore qualifyies to be used in B31.1.
The only prohibition I see is that it can only be used for nonboiler external piping. Your application is fuel piping. You should be good to go.
