[b]How to Repair 102 Years Heavy Corrosion Pipe[/b]

In this project, there is a 48" dia. 124 LF pipe(include pipe reducer from 48" to 36" for gate valve installation) which is under a dam about 100' and has 102 years.

In the report:"...The overall condition of the pipe is fair due to heavy corrosion of the steel pipes and rivets with moderate pitting and section loss of the steel.....The thickest section of pipe was measured as 0.386"...The thinnest UTM was observed at the 6 o'clock position at 80' from the south pipe outlet with a UTM of 0.137"...."

Anybody has experience or information to repair the pipe like this and can share with me? Thank you very much for your help.

Coating? Push a new smaller pipe?....

is the pipe under water? Can you drain the reservoir to replace the pipe? If not, you might be able to jack a new smaller pipe inside of the existing one. You would then need to grout the annulus.

The pipe is working now. I can't drain the reservoir to replace the pipe.

There is a gate valve in middle of the pipe. The gate shaft is on top of the dam. There is another valve nearby the outlet. We need repair the pipe that is between these two valves.

I want to get some information to do this and know how much to do this project.

you could grout and abandon the existing pipe and construct a new one. Can you jack a new pipe through the embankment? Or construct a new pipe through the abutment?

No, I can't. Because: 1. There are enough capacity
2. Don't need change all of them
3. Too much more money
