axisymmetric versus plane strane footing

Why is the influence depth deeper for a continuous (plane strain) footing than for a circular (axisymmetric) condition?
Any help appreciated. Thx.

because its longer? square and rectangular are generally limited to 2B, stip foundations (plane strain) are 4B
