I'd like to create a axisymmetric tensile test in patran. I have made a 3d modell, but there are too many elements, so a elasto-plasto calculation requires too much time.
Now I want to create a 2d modell, cross-section, and define via properties the information "axisymmetric 3d". Is this possible?
Please tell me the single steps how to do.
Thanks a lot.

Hello.
I think that 3d analysis is not necessarry in this case.
Just define material as axisymetric. Do you use 3d sample? I made a tensile test but it was 2d model with two axis symetric. it was enough. There is a lesson in pdf file with this kind of case. - how to use a axisymetric analysis. use google maybe it help, if not write me an e-mail.
