I have a piping system with a guide working like anchor because the friction is high. When I modeled it as an anchor, the expansion case passed but with high axial stress at the anchor node. The report just showed stars for axial stress. The Maximum Stress Intensity is really high too, but with numbers shown. The code stress is low. I wonder if the code stress considered axial stress? Also, what the purpose of calculating Max Stress Intensity? Thank you for your help!

It depends which Code you are using.

Look at the User Guide and Technical documentation to see the equations Caesar II applies under each Code.
