Does anyone know of a solvent that will remove a medallion from a porcelain finish without damaging the surface? The medallion is fixed to the surface using an automotive trim type adhesive.

This is a salvage need so quantities are low.

Solvent resistance for most adhesives is a function of type of solvent, time of exposure and temperature so if it was just placed you have a better chance of removal. If its been on the surface since 1981 you will have much more difficulty. Is this an acrylic or epoxy with a porcelain finish? If epoxy, maybe try MEK-based solvent?

Thanks for your response. It's a fired porcelain finish as found on an appliance component so, my guess is, it would be resistant to most solvents.

For fired glaze like that no worries to try MEK-based solvent.
