Has anyone used Inventors built in FEA? How limited is it's FEA capabilities?

Ugh. I know somebody told you to double-post this, but you shouldn't. See the "posting policies" link below.

Very.

It only has support for solids atm. Can do parts and assemblies. Can't utilize multi-body parts as assemblies like SolidWorks can. Only has tet elements. Can do static and modal analysis only.

An advantage would be the link to dynamic simulation, you can import loads based on motion simulation.

It is also relatively cheap but still very limited IMO.

Couldn't seen another post, was it removed?

Doesn't Inventor use Algor for it's FEA?

No. Algor is still a separate application that is now owned by Autodesk. They have a trial atm for single part analysis in Inventor but this is different. Inventor Simulation is based on the technology acquired from Plassotech.

How can you acquire or actviate the Algor trial within Inventor?

btw, it also works in solidworks, probably other cad packages..
