In NX4 I was able to use an auto-equalizing dimension set-up to self-center features (a hole pattern, for example).
Let's say you have a pair of holes side by side that should be centered between a left and right edge of a part. The hole space is dimensioned normally. The distance from the datum side to one hole is dimensioned normally. Here's where my recollection is fuzzy. The opposite side to the other hole is dimensioned normally, resulting in an over-dimensioned condition. Then, modify the overspecified dimension to look to the datum-to-hole dimension and auto-equalize the two. Any changes to the hole spacing or the width of the part, or both, results in self-centering of the hole pair.
Is this available in NX8, and if so, what is the path to the command?
Thanks,
-Peter
