Hi guys let me just mention 1st of all im slightly new to femap with nei nastran. I have to calculate the forces on contraints for my model but there is a slight issue. Upon analysing nastran adds an auto contraint saying error E5010 ONE OR MORE NON-ZERO DEGREES OF FREEDOM WERE AUTO-CONSTRAINED but I have fully defined my contraints with no issue. can someone please let me know what is going on here? why is there a new auto contraint added? and the worst part is when I try to get results for nodal contraints I get a value " -1.#IND "

I am desperately needing some help/explanation. Pls assist me. Thank You!

not sure why you can "calculate the forces on constraints", or how ...

look at the f06 output (output to print and post-process). you should quickly be able to see the constraint.

be very careful with autoSPC ... the constraint forces can be small (showing a constraint that isn't being loaded by the strcuture, but NASTRAN needs it there to prevent a zero stiffness) or not (clearly a problem ! ... there's something unbalanced in the model).

if you want some frustration you can try the freebody tool in FeMap ... after a morning of that you'll be looking into the f06 !

Thank you for your reply. The error was because I am using spring elements to model the pin of the attachment and this is causing the error. I also found out many of my elements were distorted and upon removing the distorted elements and fixing the mesh, I got my results.
