My problem seems very simple I am just new to solidworks.
I am lloking for a function that would describe the part's attributes. Not a BOM.

example, I have a part with 15 holes, various dia.
is there such a command that would list these holes and diameters etc. as well, perimeter of the entire part, etc.
in essence a text discription of the part that would appear in a table format or some from of report?
I feel like I am missing something very simple..thanks

In the drawing, there is a Hole Table function that will give x-y coordinates and hole size in a table format.

I tried this out, and cannot get the hole table icon to show up. it is not even in INSERT> like the help function claims it is? any suggestions? is this something that needs to be installed? activated? I have excel so that is not the problem

What version of SW are you using? I may be wrong, but I believe HTs only came into being in SW2004.

[cheers]

SW 2004, the icon is there it is just "greyed" out...Thanks for the resonse though!

Within the drawing you must first select the view that you would like the hole table associated with. Once you click on the view, insert>table>hole table.

Ah Ha, the most important thing is to pay attention, Thank you all, the key word was DRAWING, amazing, i feel a little dumb now, Thanks again, this forum is amazing!
