Is there a simple way to display an attribute in the text leader box, such as "Part Name" etc?

Thanks

Quasimoto - search this forum for this - I just recently posted some info on this subject.

I had followed that example, but was looking for a way that did not require going back to the 3D model every time.

Surely there is a way to type a "wildcard" directly into the textbox (as you create it) that would reference a specific attribute associated with the object you have picked in the drawing?

Not that I am aware of. You could create a paramter in the drawing, link it once to the 3d model. Now your attribute link would be to the parameter in the design file.

This is weird, the link and data is already there no? Doesn't ballooning basically work this way behind the scenes?

Seems like there should be a way to easily do this. (not to mention avoiding the chance for some errors on certain tasks)

Found a kludgy workaround that's almost does what I need...

Went to 'options', set ballooning to use "part name" instead of "numbers". Then once you create the balloon, you can set the "frame" to be "none" so the circle disappears.

Shortfalls...the leader anchor is in the middle like a balloon instead of the end like a text leader, and you only get a single line text editor instead of multi-line like a leader. The upside is you can quickly call out parts, and it's associative.

I still wonder if there is a way to put the correct variable name directly into a text leader?

Bueller...?

Text Templates might be of some use in this senario.
