Hello
I would appreciate some feedback on the following.
I have a situation where we (a European company) are supplying equipment for installation on a platform off the US coast.
Within the equipment package, we have a flame arrester, End of Line type.
Client had first requested USCG approval which is not available for this design.
They are now requesting an FM approved design.
Our preference is to supply ATEX certification only as this fits our usual supplier.
What we are unsure of, is it normal practice to install ATEX flame arresters in the US?
I am aware that for electrical hazardous equipment their is a distinct difference for equipment rating, however having searched google for American FA suppliers, a number of manufacturers/re-sellers have ATEX certification listed which would seem to suggest that ATEX is recognized in the US when is comes to FA's....
appreciate your help on this
