At grade railroad crossing costs

Does anyone have any idea the cost for a two lane heavy duty pavement railroad crossing? It currently is a dirt road with two crossbucks, the crossing is situated at the transition between fill and cut, so little dirt work would be required. It will mostly be the actual crossing materials and traffic control devices that the railroad installs. I have contacted them, but no word yet. Just trying to get a budget together. I know that they have to install the gates, lights, bells, etc...

getting the permits will be the hard part. don't hold your breath waiting for them to get back to you...

My experience with the RR is that the RR will design their own crossings including gate location and concrete pad. Your best bet is to coordinate directly with the RR so you can include their design costs as well as construction costs.

I just had a crossing like this completed on a local county road. As stated above, the RR will do all the work and give you their price.

This particular crossing was an existing gravel road. They installed a concrete crossing, gates, lights, wires/sensors, etc. I believe the total bill was about $250,000.
