Will someone please explain to me how you can have a 2" socket bottom diameter of 2.369 +/- .006 but have an out of roundness of .024 (no tolerance)? The standard use to be +/- .012 for out of roundness. We thought we understood out of roundness tolerances. Please give me a lessen on out of roundness.
We cement a bushing into the 2" branch of a 2x2x2 tee and have had no problems until recently. We are getting leaks in the same place on all assemblies. We discovered that the dimension in that location is 2.382. Diametrically it is out of tolerance but NIBCO says it is within spec because of the out of roundness tolerance. Does this mean we must increase the amount of cement used on the parts? Does this mean we must increase the size of our bushing and take the chance that the tees come in smaller and the bushing won't fit?
