ASTM designation for this bolt

Anyone knows what's the ASTM designation for this type of bolt? A client is using them on their equipment and I was asked to check the allowable load values.

I didn't even notice that. So that means that I have to formulate the estimated allowable values based off the listed minimum tensile strength? And the other option is actually testing them.

It also probably means there there are multiple sources of supply, zero traceability and who knows what other potential horrors.

And they're not even willing to say that they're any specific ANSI grade of stainless, just "18-8".

If whatever these are holding on is important enough to ask you to check the allowables then it's probably important enough to use identifiable fasteners.

Not that I have any affiliation with them, but Fastenal provides stainless cap screws that meet ASTM F837 as their standard product. Other screw shops should also be able to provide fasteners to meet that spec. in the size shown in your post. McMaster carries fasteners that meet the standard, but only up to 1/4-20 thread size.

The noted spec. is available from the usual sources, and shouldn't cost more than about $35 in downloadable pdf format.
