ASTM A312 with addition of filler metal

In ASTM A312, welded pipe (for example 304SS) shall be made using an automatic welding process with no addition of filler metal during the welding process.

Can we specify ASTM A312 piping with filler metal? What is the main effect on piping property, using addition of filler metal?

No, you cannot indiscriminately add filler metal for this specification. You need to specify another ASTM Specification that is for fusion welded pipe, like ASTM A 358.
